On 7 September 2026, MyRNA participated in “Investing in Biotechnology for Impact: Scaling Innovation, Access and Healthcare Impact in Malaysia,” an invitation-only roundtable held at Monash University Malaysia.

The session brought together leaders from academia, industry, healthcare, investment and the broader life sciences ecosystem around a shared ambition: translating promising biotechnology innovation into scalable, investable solutions that reach the communities that need them.

The roundtable featured opening leadership from Dan Rosen, Vice President & General Manager, Southeast Asia, Thermo Fisher Scientific, and was moderated by Imelia Wong, Country General Manager, Malaysia, Thermo Fisher Scientific. MyRNA was represented by Dr Helmi Zakariah, General Manager, alongside contributors from organisations including the Monash Industry Advisory Board, Rinani Group Berhad, SKRINE, JF Lennon and Mercury Securities. Participants also included representatives from Luness Health, Sonobee and Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM).

Invest. Access. Scale.

Three themes guided the conversation. “Invest” explored biotechnology investment opportunities and priorities in Malaysia, including what makes an innovation commercially compelling. “Access” considered how technology can improve healthcare access, particularly for rural and underserved communities. “Scale” examined the capabilities, infrastructure and partnerships needed to grow promising science into sustainable solutions in Malaysia and beyond.

The session connected these themes with practical questions around research translation, intellectual property protection, commercialisation, capital allocation and market readiness. Together, these perspectives framed the journey from scientific discovery to community benefit.

For MyRNA, the focus on community access and sustainable innovation closely aligns with its work in molecular diagnostics and early cancer risk assessment. The roundtable provided an opportunity to contribute a public health and diagnostics perspective while exploring how collaboration across sectors can support wider access to healthcare innovation.

From Conversation to Collaboration

The session encouraged participants to identify opportunities for investment, technology and infrastructure support, research collaboration and commercialisation. Its broader vision was to build connections that help biotechnology advances move beyond discovery and into practical healthcare applications.

MyRNA extends its appreciation to Monash University Malaysia, Thermo Fisher Scientific, the organising team and all contributors for bringing these perspectives together. We look forward to continuing the dialogue and exploring collaborations that connect scientific innovation with greater healthcare access and sustainable impact.
