MyRNA participated as a Gold Sponsor at the Selangor International Care Expo (SICE) 2026, held from 15–17 October 2026 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, bringing molecular screening into a shared space for care innovation and collaboration.
The recently concluded expo brought together organisations working across healthcare, caregiving and wellbeing. For MyRNA, it was an opportunity to support access to cancer risk assessment while contributing to ongoing molecular screening validation efforts. Its participation also reflected a broader commitment to making preventive healthcare part of the conversation about how individuals, families and communities receive care.
Expanding Access Through Screening and Validation
Throughout the three-day event, MyRNA collaborated with its partners, Selcare and BeVital, to collect 200 samples across screening and validation activities, including LUNGClear™ and GASTROClear™ validation samples from a high-risk, non-cancer cohort.
LUNGClear™ and GASTROClear™ are blood-based molecular screening solutions that use microRNA (miRNA) technology to support lung and gastric cancer risk stratification respectively, helping identify individuals who may benefit from further clinical assessment.
The activities served two complementary purposes: providing access to screening and supporting the collection of samples for validation. While screening supports individual risk assessment, validation contributes to the evaluation of molecular screening technologies in defined populations. Both form part of the work needed to connect scientific innovation with practical healthcare applications.
Bringing these activities into an expo setting placed molecular diagnostics alongside other healthcare and care services. For MyRNA, working with partners such as Selcare and BeVital provides opportunities to bring its technologies beyond the laboratory and closer to the communities they are intended to serve.
Early Cancer Screening and Care
Early cancer detection can create opportunities for timely treatment and better outcomes. The World Health Organization highlights the role of appropriate screening in detecting cancer before symptoms appear, enabling further diagnosis and treatment where these can offer benefit. The value of screening therefore depends on its connection to appropriate clinical assessment and follow-up.
For MyRNA, raising awareness includes helping people understand the purpose of cancer risk assessment and the importance of acting on recommendations for further evaluation. A screening result is one part of a wider clinical pathway, rather than a diagnosis on its own.
This preventive approach also relates to the care economy, where health services and social support respond to the needs of individuals, families and caregivers. Health conditions can affect daily activities, employment, family responsibilities and the support a person requires. Care therefore extends beyond treatment to include the services and relationships that help people manage their health and wellbeing.
The Selangor Care Economy Policy 2024–2030 recognises the importance of integrating healthcare and social support for home and community care, alongside improving access through innovation, technology and data. MyRNA’s work in awareness and molecular screening contributes to this broader ambition by encouraging proactive health management and access to appropriate assessment.
Supporting Healthy Ageing in Malaysia Through Preventive Healthcare
These efforts are increasingly relevant as Malaysia’s population ages. DOSM projects that more than 15% of the population will be aged 60 and above by 2036. This demographic transition reinforces the importance of supporting health throughout life while preparing services for changing care needs.
Healthy ageing is about maintaining the abilities that enable wellbeing in later life. WHO’s approach recognises that people can live well with health conditions when these are managed appropriately and supportive environments and services are available. Prevention, timely assessment and ongoing care all have roles within that wider approach.
MyRNA hopes to contribute by strengthening awareness of early cancer detection, making molecular risk assessment more accessible and encouraging appropriate clinical follow-up. Through collaboration with healthcare providers, care organisations and community partners, it aims to support a future where longer lives are accompanied by better health, informed decisions and access to care.
MyRNA is grateful for the opportunity to participate in SICE 2026 and thanks Wanita Berdaya Selangor and the organising team for bringing the care community together. We also extend our appreciation to our partners, Selcare and BeVital, and everyone who took part in this effort. We look forward to further opportunities to contribute to Malaysia’s care ecosystem through greater awareness and access to preventive healthcare.
